The Matt Brewing Company is currently the oldest family-owned brewery
in the state, and the third oldest family-owned brewery in the country. in 1885 Francis Xavier Matt moved to the United
States and began working at the Charles Bierbauer Brewery in Utica, New York. After three years in the position of head
salesman and brewer, Matt reorganized the brewery, creating The West End Brewing Company.
