2007 version tasted 4/29/09
Brooklyn Monster poured a clear, very dark, copper color with a pen width tan head that dissapaited quickly.
The aroma is very nice, with deep malt, figs, sherry notes, and faint traces of alcohol. The body is smooth and mellow,
continuing with the rich malty theme, some toffee and a slight bit of hops. The finish has some hoppy notes and leads
to a dryness that is just enough to balance out the huge body. Overall this is really just a great beer and probably
my favorite barleywine. The 2007 version has mellowed a bit and rounded out the edges that gives the smoother taste.
The body is complex, and the alcohol is just noticeable enough to have a warming effect. This is a phenominal beer to
pair with any cheese, or even a nice cigar.
