Brewery Ommegang was founded in 1997 by Don
Feinberg. The brewery is located just south of Cooperstown on a 136 acre farm. The brewery makes
five Belgian-style beers year-round. Hennepin is a Farmhouse Saison beer, Rare Vos is an Amber Ale, Ommegang
is an Abbey Ale, Three Philosophers is a Quadrupel, and the Witte is a Witte Ale. In 2003 Duvel
Moortgat bought the brewery from Feinberg. In 2007, Ommegang introduced two more beers to their portfolio, the Chocolate
Indulgence Stout, and Ommegeddon, a blonde ale. On January 9th, 2008, Ommegang announced that Randy Thiel,
who has been the brewmaster at Ommegang since 1997, would be leaving to become the Director of Quality Control at New
Glarus Brewing Company in Wisconsin. Ommegang announced that Phil Leinhart would become the new brewmaster
while retaining his title of Director of Production.
